They will continue to deny the 1975 hoax, however as long as there are eye witnesses it will be tough to deny. The big thing in my day and this was said from the platform "stay alive till 75." Maybe they meant 2075. At our circuit assemblies we had a countdown of the months until the fall of 1975. This started about 5 years before 1975 and it disappeared in 1976. I was going to take a 2 year college course in 1968 and I was talked out of it by two elders because it showed a lack of faith and my education would not be needed in 7 years. That was almost a half of a century ago. Time flies when you are having a good time.

One day assembly
by Sour Grapes inat a recent one day assembly i walked away with the thought that the wtbts sure does not like witnesses who have the opportunity to make a good living.
there were, in one day, three experiences of witnesses who turned down "6 figure salaries" because there would be some traveling involved and some meetings would be missed as well as missing family worship night.
i thought it strange that the exact phrase was used of "6 figure salary".

At a recent one day assembly I walked away with the thought that the WTBTS sure does not like Witnesses who have the opportunity to make a good living. There were, in one day, three experiences of Witnesses who turned down "6 figure salaries" because there would be some traveling involved and some meetings would be missed as well as missing Family Worship Night. I thought it strange that the exact phrase was used of "6 figure salary". I guess the end is so close that they don't have to worry about their retirement and who needs the extra money anyway.
It was also announced in the afternoon that there is a $11,000 deficit for the day at the assembly hall and that they were sure that with every ones help that this would be taken care of. Keep them poor and keep asking for more. For the first time my wife asked me how the expenses could be so much for one day? The WTBTS has got a real racket going on. Now there are two different circuits that meet on Saturday and Sunday and they charge $12,000 for each day. I remember not that long ago that it was $8,000 for two days.

Mandatory voting in USA
by Sour Grapes ini am sure that president obama's saying today that mandatory voting in the usa would be a good thing is going to get the witnesses all excited as they look forward to being persecuted for not voting.
just another sign showing how deep we are into the times of the end and how close they are to burying billions of people who don't read the watchtower.. sour grapes .

What are the Witnesses Afraid Of ?
by Sour Grapes inif the witnesses have the truth and have been going to meetings for many years and every week they learn how to be effective in the ministry and learn about the bible on sundays and every week have a family worship night, why are they afraid to talk to anyone who doesn't agree with them or question their beliefs?
if they have the truth then nothing can refute it.
the truth is the truth.

If they have the Truth then nothing can refute it. The truth is the truth. They either can't explain what they believe, they don't know what they believe, they don't care what they believe, or maybe it is as simple as they don't have the Truth. Maybe the easy way out is to say "Oh my God it is an apostate, we can't talk to you". Then they will brag to other Witnesses that they came across an apostate in service like it is a badge of honor.
Even if you were not a Witness and do not go to church and don't believe if God, they would still call you an apostate if you ask them about the overlapping generations or is it fair to need two witnesses in child molesting cases.

Isn't it amazing how bug eyed Witnesses get when they think apostate and they act like if they touch any apostate information, which may be a simple news article or a well written church tract, their arm will fall off or they will be struck blind. They sure act crazy.

'If you go to my church this Sunday I will go to yours next Sunday'
by Sour Grapes inhow many witnesses would take up that offer if a person at the door asked them?
if that doesn't scream out "cult"!
if you know too much about the witnesses then you are an apostate.

Sour Grapes
How many Witnesses would take up that offer if a person at the door asked them? I am willing to say that not one would. If that doesn't scream out "CULT"! then nothing does. Witnesses wants everyone to read their literature, however anything from any other religion is off limits to them. If you know too much about the Witnesses then you are an apostate. If you know more about their religion than they do or more about the Bible you are an apostate. If you talk about the problem with child molesters with a Witness you are an apostate. If you are in and question anything seriously you will be called an apostate.
The Witchtower Bable and Trick Society knows what they are doing.

Why doesn't the Borg just fudge the numbers? That would save a lot of grief. They could start reducing the numbers by 500 per year and in 12 years be back to the 8,000 count. Hold steady at 8,000 for 6 years, then reduce 400 a year down to 6,000. That would chew up 23 years. By that time anyone who believed in "stay alive to 75" will be dead or have dementia and 1914 will be almost 125 years in the past.

You may be a J.W. if you have a Bible study without using the Bible.
You may be a J.W. if you introduce someone at the kingdom hall not by their name but as "your Bible study".
You may be a J.W. if going on vacation is going to a summer convention and going swimming at the hotel.
You may be a J.W. if you don't know what "soon" means.

Mom says, "CO says there's only 15 years left!"
by Separation of Powers ini don't typically hear from my mom often, but i tell you, over the past couple of weeks, i have heard from her several times.
you heard the comment about "our way of worship will be altered" and thank you for your posts by the way....but yesterday, she calls and is asking about the kids and then, in typical jw fashion mind you, says:.
"you know, you should really get back to meetings.

I was told in the 1960's that I would never finish high school. Well let's see...I finished high school, my children finished high school and some of my grandchildren have finished high school. I have been told...."Well just think how much closer we are now than when your were in high school." When I tell some JW's that are my age that I have accepted that I am going to die in this system of things they at first look a little surprised and then I see in their eyes that they know that is the truth, they just can't say it themselves.
